CHINESE NEW YEAR POTLUCK LUNCHEON
TERRA College students and staff had a festive celebration filled with joy, fun and food that tempted their taste buds.
The potluck get-together was held to celebrate the recent Chinese New Year festive.
One traditional aspect is the naming of the New Year. The lunar calendar is influenced by Chinese astrology, and each year is associated with one of the 12 animal symbols in the Chinese zodiac, as well as one of the five elements. This year, 2016 is the “Year of the Monkey,” or more specifically, “Year of the Fire Monkey.”
Instead of asking about or telling one’s age, the Chinese culture often talks about their animal year.
Students and staff of various races gathered for a good time together and welcome each other with open arms in the true Malaysian spirit of goodwill, understanding and sharing.
